Venezuela rejects European Union interventionist statements about frustrated magnicide

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statements made by the spokesperson of the European Union External Action Service on August 9th 2018, which represent a new and rude interference in the affairs being the exclusive competence of Venezuelan institutions.

The effort made by such spokesperson, to avoid mentioning that the fact occurred during the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard on August 4th, 2018 represented an act of terrorism and an attempt assassination, was really incomprehensible.

The European Union continues to use its irrational and colonialist rhetoric aiming at not recognizing the terrorist actions which aimed not only at making an attempt on the life of the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro Moros, but also on the life of high-level authorities of Public Branches, the Military High Staff and members of the Diplomatic Corp attending the ceremony, with the purpose of generating violence and disturbing the political stability we enjoy in our Homeland since the election of the National Constituent Assembly.

The investigations conducted by the competent jurisdictional bodies suggest evidence enabling the beginning of a process in accordance with the rule of law for two members of the National Assembly, whose parliamentary privilege has been removed through existing constitutional procedures so that they can be prosecuted in accordance with our laws and regulations.

President Nicolas Maduro is firmly determined to continue the path of peace, of laws and of the Constitution. Those are the paths of the Bolivarian Revolution. However, this path will be only possible through justice, which is present when this type of actions threatening the peace of the Republic do not go unpunished.
