The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the results of the Special Session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), held yesterday, which adopted a resolution that creates a dangerous
precedent in the region, as it seeks to ignore the legitimacy of President Nicolas Maduro Moros, who was reelected by the sovereign Venezuelan people to perform as the Head of State during the 2019-2025 constitutional period.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela condemns the coercive practices used in our region by the U.S. regime aiming at promoting its criminal campaign of aggression against the People and Government of Venezuela and continuing its regime change policies in our country, in flagrant violation of the international law and the purposes and principles enshrined in the OAS and the UN Charters.
In this regard, we are grateful for the support of friendly countries that decided not to participate in the resolution adopted today. We are aware that such legal manipulation undermines the right to peace of our peoples and
endangers the stability of Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole.
It is also worth highlighting the fact that, beyond the coercion openly exercised by the U.S. regime, yesterday's vote in the OAS failed to surpass the number of votes in favor obtained in the past.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates its unwavering, peaceful vocation and its right to choose, within the principle of self-determination, its national authorities, since sovereignty resides in the Venezuelan people which legitimizes the constituted powers of the Venezuelan State.
